Day 2 of our San Fran adventure awaited! Early in the morning, while everyone slept in, I got outside for a quick walk in the colorful Mission district. It was a busy Friday, with construction going on, kids on their way to school, and folks commuting – by bus, car, foot, and scooter.
This walk had way more urban flavor than my usual suburban trek, and there was color everywhere. I was happy to see the streets were lined with green…
But it was the murals that really had me gaga – they were everywhere!! On stores…
On playgrounds…
And on churches…
By the time I got back, everybody was up and at ‘em, ready to go. Armed with some decaf coffee treats from Peet’s, we hit the road!
The Monterey Bay Aquarium…
It was gorgeous and so easy to navigate, with amazing sights at every turn. A brilliant feature was their texting service – whenever they were about to feed the otters, penguins, or puffins, we were the first to know!
Lest you think this post is all about our sea-faring pals, we did take a break for a late lunch at a great local restaurant.
The Cannery Row Brewing Company was fun, with a great menu, friendly fab service, and really fresh ingredients. The tomatoes and cukes tasted like they just came from a garden out back!
I had a B.L.A.T. (bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato) along with salad and my son’s cole slaw. Chomp! Bacon and delicious salads that I didn’t have to make? HEAVEN.

Back to the aquarium for more water wonders, we saw so many cool creatures…
Jellies!
Spiny lobster (not as tasty, I hear, as his East Coast cousin)

Our day in Monterey Bay was great. My poor little phone ran outta juice, I was working it so hard, taking pics!

More SF fun to come!!
